Take a crash course in the basics of design and their application in the AEC industry. During this hands-on course, we will cover the basic principles of design and color all the way through typography and layout do’s and don’ts. No computers required, we’ll be kicking it back to Kindergarten with paper, glue, and crayons. Come prepared with an open-mind ready to be filled with a year’s worth of college credits. Learn how to effectively organize visual elements on a page to create an aesthetically pleasing page that will guide the viewer’s eye to what you want them to see. This course is a precursor to a follow-up course on learning how to apply these skills in computer programs, such as Adobe InDesign.

About Presenter Kristina Falvo

With over seven years at Mascaro, Kristina Falvo is their Director of Marketing. In this role, her primary function is managing proposals, qualifications, and the get work effort, while delegating and overseeing the marketing team. Their tasks include project photography, advertising, video creation, branding/formatting, writing, website maintenance, and social media presence. She has over 15 years of experience in the AEC industry and holds a Bachelor of Science degree in graphic design and communications, with a minor in professional writing from La Roche University. When she’s not working, she’s tackling the ups and downs of toddlerhood and trying to squeeze in a good workout session. Her other hobbies (writing, painting, drawing) have taken a back burner. She has also self-published a women’s lit novel.
